(NEXSTAR) - Tired of having so many streaming apps? Disney's CEO is hoping to cut back on that. Disney currently offers three streaming services - Disney+, home to various Disney movies and shows; Hulu, offering Hulu originals and next-day episodes from multiple networks; and ESPN+, which has live sports, studio shows, and series. By the end of the year, Disney is planning to create a "one-app experience," to incorporate Hulu content with Disney+, CEO Bob Iger said during an earnings call Wednesday. He called it "a logical progression of our DTC [direct-to-consumer] offerings," CNBC reports. All three of Disney's streaming services will continue to be stand-alone services, according to Iger. Additionally, Disney plans to raise the cost of its ad-free Disney+ plan, which is currently $10.99. The cost for that tier, as well as others, was increased late last year. (NEXSTAR) – Starbucks boasts more than 170,000 ways for customers to tailor drink orders to get a preferred type of milk or that perfect sweetness level, but a new $1 charge is causing some confusion. On Tuesday, the coffee chain announced that customers who request a Refresher with no water will have to pay a buck extra, "as this customization requires extra ingredients."Starbucks Refreshers are cold drinks that are made with various fruit juices and green coffee extract."This change allows us to provide a more consistent approach to customization, similar to other beverage customizations such as adding an espresso shot or syrup which incur an additional charge," a Starbucks spokesperson told Nexstar in a statement.News of the surcharge prompted confusion on social media, however. "Apparently starbucks will now charge you $1 extra if you ask for light ice," one person tweeted.A Reddit user posted an image purportedly showing a sign posted at a Starbucks announcing that Refreshers mu...911 calls capture moments after shooting at Dania Beach 7-Eleven that left 11-year-old dead

Newly released 911 calls captured the moments after, authorities said, an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed in a random act of violence.According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Darren Rosenthal opened fire inside the 7-Eleven along the 800 block of Stirling Road, late Thursday night. The victim, Naabigh Sayed Ali, had walked inside the store with his older brother, 20-year-old Talaal Ali.After shots rang out, Talaal dialed 911 while hiding inside the bathroom of the convenience store.“There’s a shooting. There’s a shooting,” he told the dispatcher.“OK, do you see any weapons?” said the dispatcher.“I’m hiding in the bathroom. I think my brother is dying. Hello? I just ran,” said Talaal.“Why were you guys at 7-Eleven? Were you guys coming in to buy something?” said the dispatcher.“Ice cream, we were getting ice cream,” said Talaal.“Ice cream, OK,” said the dispatcher. As Talaa...2-TV setup or sports bar? Local Heat, Panthers fans find viewing options for playoff games

Playoff fever is at a fever pitch as both the Miami Heat and Florida Panthers are one win away from moving on in their respective series.Wednesday night’s games are must-see TV for any South Florida sports fan. The problem for sports fans is that both games will be airing at the same time. One option could be to move stuff around, like having a two-TV setup, but that could be a lot of work. If moving a bunch of furniture around seems like too much work, fans can always find a sports bar where they will air both games, like Waxy’s Pub in Fort Lauderdale.“Look as the Panthers and Heat keep churning out these wins,” said Barry Nessom with Waxy’s. Waxy’s is just busier and busier on Wednesday as the games’ start times grow nearer. “Even last week, when the Panthers were playing, it was electrifying when they beat the Bruins,” Nessom said.“I’m really excited for two South Florida teams to be doing really well in the playoffs,” sports ...DeSantis signs immigration overhaul ahead of expected White House run

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday signed into law a sweeping immigration bill that bolsters his migrant relocation program and limits social services for immigrants lacking permanent legal status — key political priorities of the Republican as he prepares to launch a presidential campaign. The signing came a day before the expiration of coronavirus restrictions on asylum that have allowed the U.S. to quickly expel migrants at the southern border for the last three years, a policy known as Title 42.DeSantis, who is expected to announce his presidential candidacy in the coming weeks, has made hardening Florida’s immigration laws a top priority as he heaves criticism on federal border policy and takes a hard-right stance geared toward Republican primary voters.“We’re bracing for some turbulent times ahead,” DeSantis said at a bill signing ceremony in Jacksonville, adding, “You’re likely to see it get a lot worse.”The law provid...Immanuel Quickley’s sprained ankle keeps him out of elimination Game 5

Immanuel Quickley was out again.New York’s sixth man missed Wednesday’s game because of his sprained ankle, leaving Tom Thibodeau with a shorthanded bench to tackle an elimination Game 5.“Day to day,” Thibodeau said about Quickley. “He’s getting better.”Quickley suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss in Miami, where Bam Adebayo dove for a loose ball and undercut the legs of the Knicks guard. Before the injury, Quickley was struggling in the playoffs while averaging just nine points and shooting 24% from beyond the arc. The 23-year-old is eligible for a contract extension in the offseason, and his value, if anything, has declined after peaking in March because of a breakthrough regular season. In 13 career playoff games, Quickley shot just 33.3% overall and 27% from beyond the arc.Without Quickley in Game 4, Thibodeau extended starter Jalen Brunson’s minutes and inserted Miles McBride into the rotation for...Climate protestors arrested at State House after hours-long sit-in

A group of climate activists with Extinction Rebellion Boston were arrested at the State House Wednesday afternoon after they staged a sit-in in the House Gallery for over six hours. The group attempted to disrupt a brief joint session of the Constitutional Convention, a typically minutes-long affair the House and Senate hold every few months to consider amendments to the state Constitution. Lawmakers were already on their way out by the time the protestors tried to unfurl a banner in the chamber.Protestors gathered on the fourth floor public viewing gallery for the House chamber, saying they would not budge unless legislative leadership introduced bills placing a moratorium on new fossil fuel infrastructure projects currently being constructed or proposed.“The commonwealth has the ability to be a national leader during the rapid transition away from fossil fuels to green renewable energy,” the group said in a statement. “We should stop investing rate-payer money in fossil fuel infra...After Arlington National Cemetery horse deaths, Army makes changes to improve their care

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Army announced changes Wednesday to the way it will care for the gray and black horses that carry service members’ flag-draped caskets to their final resting places in Arlington National Cemetery after the deaths of horses in the ceremonial unit exposed their poor living conditions. The horses are part of the caisson platoon of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, known as the Old Guard, which is best known for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the cemetery, located just across the river from Washington. Two Old Guard platoon horses, Mickey and Tony, had to be euthanized within days of each other in February 2022. Both died from colon impaction, a “dry, firm mass of feed, or foreign material, such as dirt or sand,” and in Tony’s case, he had to be euthanized because the sand and gravel impaction was so extensive it could not be surgically removed, according to an Army investigation. After the deaths of the two horses, both in their 20s, veterinarians...Hundreds ordered out of riverside mobile homes in flood-hit Cache Creek, B.C.

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta says flooding in the B.C. Interior town is already the worst he’s seen in 50 years, and he’s expecting even more trouble as blazing temperatures forecast this weekend hit the snowpack. He said over 100 mobile homes perched on the banks of the Bonaparte River are at risk in the community, 350 kilometres northeast of Vancouver. Ranta said the Sage and Sands Mobile Park had been evacuated of about 200 people, who had been sent to nearby Kamloops. “The Bonaparte River was flowing at 100-year level yesterday, and there is still an awful lot of snow up in the hills and we are expecting 34-degree temperatures over the next couple of days,” Ranta said in an interview on Wednesday. More evacuation orders will be issued in the days ahead, he said. The town is currently under a flood warning, with a state of local emergency extended until May 13.The Thompson-Nicola Regional District also added an alert for at least one pro...Latest news
